Rihanna: ‘Cheers (Drink To That)’ Music Video (VIDEO)

Perhaps it’s appropriate that, as the East Coast braces for Hurricane Irene this weekend, Rihanna releases her new music video for “Cheers (Drink To That),” a breezy, tribal party-rock song that samples Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You” and serves up a nostalgic toast to summer. We see behind-the-scenes shots of sailing, drinking coconuts and clinking cups of what looks suspiciously like Kool Aid. Not that it’s keeping us from Cheering, and Drinking To That, though — especially not on this weekend.

Rihanna Pays Tribute to Fan Who Died in Car Crash, Listening to Her Music

Rihanna paid tribute to a young fan who died Tuesday night in a car accident via her Twitter page yesterday. The 17-year-old fan, known only as Karen, ran a Twitter fan page for the singer and was reportedly listening to Rihanna’s “Rated R” album at the time of the accident.

One of Karen’s friends, known as Anderson, tweeted Rihanna yesterday, telling her that the teenager had died in a car crash and was listening to Rihanna’s music at the time of the fatal accident.

The 23-year-old singer then took to Twitter and tweeted this heartfelt message to her more-than six million followers: “One of my biggest RihannaNavy fans died today in a car accident!!! Gone but never EVER forgotten!!!! She was only 17 #DearKaren”

Anderson, who also helps update the @RihannaSpanish fan page, tweeted the following message on July 19: “Karen’s parents told me that she died listening “The Last Song” off Rated R.”

Rihanna then retweeted, adding: “Karen we miss u forever.”

Over 100 Rihanna fans have retweeted Rihanna’s message and paid tribute to the teenager using the hashtag #DearKaren. The singer has also retweeted a number of the messages on her official page.

Rihanna is currently on her LOUD Tour across North America–and despite the tragedy, she was able to spend time with her family last night. The singer happily tweeted: “I got to see my mom+grandma today!!! Amazing night!!!!”
